Gemma Fenimore was appointed counsel for my mother in her guardianship case. My mother was diagnosed with having dementia. I petitioned the court for guardianship and as a procedural option in probate court, I requested mental health powers, 'should they be needed in the future'.

When Gemma went to visit my mother for the first time, without understanding the case, or the facts , Gemma assumed that I requested mental health powers so I could have my mother committed to a mental health facility. The truth, if Gemma had any desire at all to understand the facts, was that my plan was to care for my mother personally, in her own home, not send her to a horrible facility. It has been over a year now and my mother remains in her home under my care, she is healthy and happy. I would not have placed her in a facility unless there was no other option. People in these facilities are often neglected and abused. Gemma never had any desire to understand the case, or the facts.

Because of Gemma's incompetence, she upset my mother by telling her a fabricated story, that I was having her committed to a institution. My mother was devastate to hear such a false story!! I was upset to see my mother hurt by Gemma's false story.

An important question to ask, when considering hiring Gemma, is, does she lack the ability to understand the facts of a case. In my case, the answer was, unfortunately YES, she failed as a human being and as a lawyer. Her failure to understand the facts in my mother's case, came at a high cost.
